Beverly Hills, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2011) – Administrative director for the Waismann Method of rapid opiate detoxification, Clare Waismann, today announced a temporary price reduction on the pioneering treatment in honor of the third annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day – a national effort by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to collect and dispose of unwanted or unused prescription medications. From October 24 – November 7 the cost of the Waismann Method treatment will be lowered by 10 percent, in an effort to encourage those struggling with prescription painkiller dependency to seek treatment and achieve full recovery.
“Prescription painkiller abuse is a serious issue in the U.S. today, and has a profound effect on thousands of families and communities nationwide,” said Kavin.  “I applaud the DEA for taking action to address this critical public health problem by asking Americans to turn in their unused prescription medications. It’s my hope that by offering a lower price on our rapid detoxification treatment those who are affected by dependency to prescription painkillers will be inspired to seek help for themselves or their loved ones.”
National Take Bak Initiative
According to the 2009 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more than seven million Americans abuse prescription drugs.  A separate study from the Yale School of Medicine (published in the Archives of Internal Medicine), reported that four out of five people who misuse opioids get the drugs from people other than their doctors, including friends and family members.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day has been an extremely successful initiative in helping to combat the rising prescription drug abuse epidemic.  According to the DEA, during an April 30, 2011 event, more than 376,593 pounds of unwanted or expired medication was turned in for safe and proper disposal, which was 55 percent more than the 242,000 pounds brought in during the event in September 2010.
This year’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day takes place Saturday, October 29 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 pm at various locations nationwide.  To find a local collection site in your area, please visit the National Take Back Initiative Collection Site Search page. Individuals based in Los Angeles may drop off their unused prescription drugs at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department collection site, at 780 N. San Vicente Blvd. West Hollywood, CA 90069.
The Waismann Method is a safe and proven treatment for opiate dependency that utilizes the most advanced medical techniques available. The rapid detox procedure is carried out in a full-service hospital in Southern California by board-certified anesthesiologists while patients remain under deep sedation, so they experience minimal conscious withdrawal or suffering.  Following medical treatment, patients are taken to Domus Retreat for an assessment to determine any underlying causes of dependency, and a customized aftercare plan is assigned to ensure a healthy and effective transition to life without opiates.  Patients of the Waismann Method achieve an extraordinarily high success rate – approximately 70 percent following one year after treatment – because they no longer fight the constant physical cravings for opiates that have led them to relapse in the past.
